Common questions

What is Claims Passport?

Claims Passport is a secure identity service for Australian class action and compensation matters. It issues you a single Passport ID that links your registration to the relevant matter — without exposing your contact details to the sites you register on or the firms you connect with.

Participating sites such as ClassActions.com.au store only your Passport ID and matter link. Your name and contact method stay inside your Passport — never shared with law firms or third parties in raw form.

Why register?

Registering through Claims Passport helps ensure your registration reaches the right matter list — without handing your contact details to every site you visit.

If you have previously registered on another participating site, you already have a Passport ID. We deduplicate across all sites so you only ever receive one Passport — not one per site.

How do I register?

  1. Visit ClassActions.com.au and click Register or Check eligibility on the relevant matter page.
  2. Enter your preferred name and either your mobile number or email address.
  3. We send a magic link to verify your contact. Click the link to confirm.
  4. Answer any eligibility questions for the matter, then choose your intent — Claimant (progress a claim) or Keep me updated.
  5. Your Passport ID is issued instantly. The participating site stores only that ID — your contact details stay in your Passport.

How do I register my organisation?

Organisations — including law firms and referring services — are onboarded directly by the Claims Passport team. If your organisation would like to participate as a referring site or receive matter routing, please contact us through the platform. We will configure a matter entry, source tag, and routing webhook for your organisation.

What is the role of an Administrator?

Platform Administrators manage matters, eligibility criteria, intake questions, and routing rules through the Admin Dashboard. They can also view registration volumes by source and matter, monitor webhook delivery status, and manually reroute registrations where required.

Administrators are not provided with access to raw contact details. All views show only Passport IDs, matter links, eligibility results, and routing status.

How do I access my matters or records?

  1. Go to the Passport Dashboard at claims.au/passport.
  2. Enter your Passport ID (format: CP-XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX).
  3. We send a magic link to your registered contact. Click the link to open a secure session.
  4. Your dashboard shows all linked matters across every participating site, your Passport Inbox, and controls to update your contact method, pause notifications, or delete your Passport.

Privacy & security

Your contact details are encrypted at rest with per-record keys, hosted in the Sydney region. A one-way fingerprint of your contact is used only to detect whether you already have a Passport — it cannot be reversed to your actual details.

Law firms and partner organisations receive your Passport ID, matter ID, eligibility result, and a plain-English summary. They never receive your name, mobile number, or email address.

You can update your contact method, pause all notifications, or permanently delete your Passport and all linked data at any time from your Passport Dashboard.

See our full Privacy Policy for more detail.

Platform messaging and communications

Claims Passport sends communications through its controlled messaging systems — magic links, platform inbox messages, and (where relevant) SMS or email notifications. Your direct contact details are not provided to law firms or third parties to contact you independently. However, you may still receive correspondence directly from courts, government bodies, or other parties by post or other means outside this platform.

All delivery events are logged against your Passport ID. You can view your Passport Inbox and pause or resume notifications at any time from your Passport Dashboard.

WhatsApp notifications are in development and will be available in a future release.

Terms & Conditions of Use

Claims Passport is an information and communications platform providing access to selected information, records, registrations, questionnaires, communications and related services connected with matters, enquiries, investigations, claims-related opportunities and other platform functions.

Registration for, access to, and use of Claims Passport, and any information obtained through it, is subject to your agreement to the following conditions:

1. Claims Passport is an evolving platform. We do not warrant that the information made available through the platform is complete, current, accurate or suitable for any particular purpose. Users must carefully evaluate the accuracy, relevance, completeness and suitability of any information for their own use or purpose.

2. Information made available through Claims Passport is not a court record, government register, legal opinion, financial product advice, claims handling service, or formal determination of any right, entitlement or outcome, unless expressly stated otherwise. It is selected information made available through the platform for permitted use.

3. You may use information provided through Claims Passport only for your personal use, internal business use, or the specific purpose for which access is granted through the platform. You must not reproduce, adapt, distribute, publish, commercialise, create derivative products from, or otherwise use information from the platform for any other purpose unless expressly authorised by us in writing or permitted by law.

4. Use and disclosure of information obtained through Claims Passport may be subject to legal restrictions, confidentiality obligations, privacy obligations (including obligations under applicable privacy laws such as the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth)), contractual restrictions and platform controls. You are responsible for ensuring your use of any information complies with all applicable laws and obligations.

5. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Claims Passport excludes all warranties in relation to access to or use of the platform and any downloading, receipt or use of information, documents, files, communications or materials made available through it. You use the platform at your own risk. Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any rights you may have under the Australian Consumer Law or other applicable laws that cannot be excluded.

6. Claims Passport does not warrant that: (a) the platform will always be available; (b) access will be uninterrupted or error-free; (c) files or communications obtained through the platform will be free from viruses or harmful components; or (d) any particular use of information from the platform will not infringe the rights of another person.

7. We control the operation of Claims Passport. Access to the platform, or to particular records, matters, communications or functions, may be suspended, restricted, modified or withdrawn at any time, including without notice where reasonably necessary.

8. If you are given the ability to provide access rights to another person, that access is subject to these terms and any other conditions notified by us. You are responsible for ensuring that any person you authorise to access Claims Passport through your account or permissions complies with these terms.

9. Access must only be given to a person who is properly authorised and who requires that access for a legitimate purpose connected with the relevant matter, service, organisation or platform function.

10. We reserve the right to amend these Terms and Conditions of Use from time to time by publishing updated terms on this website or platform. Continued use of Claims Passport after any update constitutes acceptance of the amended terms.

11. Claims Passport may include messaging, workflow, questionnaire, registration, document and AI-assisted communication functions. These features are provided to support platform operation and controlled communications, and do not of themselves create a solicitor-client relationship, retainer, fiduciary relationship, legal advice relationship or other professional adviser relationship unless expressly agreed separately.

11.5. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our liability for any loss or damage arising from your use of the platform is limited to the re-supply of the relevant services or the cost of having those services supplied again.

12. We may use controlled communications methods, including platform messaging, email, SMS and AI-assisted communication tools, to minimise unnecessary disclosure of direct contact details and to support privacy-focused platform operations.

13. You must keep your login details, access credentials and account permissions secure, and must notify us promptly if you suspect unauthorised access or misuse.

14. Your use of Claims Passport is also subject to our Privacy Policy, Privacy Collection Notice, and any additional terms that apply to particular services, organisations, matters or platform functions.
